About the physics
Mixing is two-constant Kubelka–Munk over 36 spectral bands — pigment concentrations add in absorption K(λ) and scattering S(λ), never in RGB. The canvas holds two films per cell: a wet film and a cured film beneath it, each rendered with the finite-film form — cured against the primed ground, wet against that result. Curing the film turns every later thin pass into a true glaze: light goes through, reflects, and comes back, instead of blending. Only wet paint mixes, smears, or yields to the knife. The full assumptions ledger is at the bottom of the page.
