Theology of Intersex

Today's commute reading- Sex Difference in Christian Theology: Male, Female, and Intersex in the Image of God - A survey of historical and current theologies. Some really amazing stuff here; the editing and structure suggests that it's a Doctoral dissertation polished up for publication.

The more I learn about historical roots of Christian beliefs, the more I am persuaded that beliefs & culture are tremendously mutable without damaging the salvation relationship in Christ. The absolutely absurd beliefs of our forebears are simply staggering; the continuity of the greater church with many individually pious people indicates clear and regular revision in light of shifts in knowledge and culture, while still sitting under the same creedal umbrella. More on that in my review of the Canon book.
